Who we are

youunbox.com ("the Site", "we") is a free directory of garage, yard, and estate sales in the United States. Users post upcoming sales; visitors find them by ZIP code. The Site is an independent publication and is not affiliated with any listed sale, seller, or venue.

Sales are user-submitted

Listings — including addresses, dates, times, descriptions, and photos — are submitted by users. We do not verify listings and do not guarantee their accuracy, that a sale will take place, or the condition, legality, safety, or ownership of anything offered at a sale. Transactions happen entirely between you and the seller, in person; the Site is not a party to them and offers no buyer protection. If you believe a listing is inaccurate, fraudulent, or infringing, contact us and we will review it.

Visiting sales

Exercise the same judgment you would with any classified listing: meet in daylight, bring a companion if you can, and inspect items before paying. Addresses are provided by the poster — we cannot confirm who lives at, or has the right to hold a sale at, any location.

Photos, prohibited content & enforcement

Users may upload photos of the items in their sale. By uploading, you confirm you took the photo or otherwise hold the rights to it. The following content is strictly prohibited and will be removed: any illegal content; any sexual or sexually suggestive content — above all, any content that sexualizes or exploits minors; identifiable people photographed without their consent; non-consensual or voyeuristic imagery; graphic violence; harassment or doxxing (including publishing someone else's address as a fake sale); stolen goods or items illegal to sell; malware or content designed to compromise the Site or its users; and content that infringes others' intellectual-property rights.

Technical safeguards. Every uploaded image is validated and rebuilt by the Site before storage: metadata (including EXIF/GPS location and camera details) is stripped for your privacy, the file is reconstructed so that the stored copy is never the original upload, and images are served with security headers that prevent them from executing as anything but an image. Uploads are additionally screened by an automated content-safety system; uploads it cannot clear are held for human review before appearing publicly.

Reporting and removal. Every public photo carries a "⚑" report control. Content that receives multiple community reports is automatically unpublished pending review. We aim to review reports of illegal content and remove confirmed violations within 24 hours; accounts that post prohibited content are banned. Where the law requires it, we will preserve evidence and report material to the appropriate authorities (including NCMEC for content involving minors) and cooperate with law enforcement.

The Open Box (item listings)

The "Open Box" section lets members list individual items and message each other. All transactions are person-to-person, in person. The Site provides no payment processing, escrow, shipping, delivery, or buyer protection of any kind, and never asks for payment details — anyone who claims otherwise is attempting fraud. Prices, item condition, and meetups are agreed between buyer and seller; we are not a party to any sale. Meet in busy public places (many police stations offer safe-exchange spots), inspect items before paying, and never pay before you have the item in hand.

Reviews can be written only by the buyer a seller confirms when marking an item sold. Review fraud — fake sales to farm reviews, review swapping, or retaliatory content — is prohibited and results in removal and account bans. Chat messages are private between the participants but are stored by the Site and may be reviewed by moderators when a participant reports abuse.

Listing lifecycle: item listings expire after 30 days and can be relisted a limited number of times. Sold and expired listings, along with their conversations, are deleted automatically after 60 days.

Sale pages link to third-party map services for directions. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, third-party sites.

No warranties

The Site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, youunbox.com and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or attendance at any listed sale — including, without limitation, purchases made at sales, item condition or authenticity, property damage, personal injury, cancelled sales, or the acts or omissions of any poster or attendee. Your sole and exclusive remedy for dissatisfaction with the Site is to stop using it.

Changes

We may update this page at any time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
