Who we are

youunbox.com ("the Site", "we") is a free US yard-sale directory. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can have it deleted. Contact: support@youunbox.com.

Information we collect

Account information. If you create an account we store your email address, your chosen username, and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself). Accounts are optional — you can post sales without one.

Content you submit. Sale listings (title, description, the address you choose to publish, dates, tags) and photos are stored so they can be displayed as described in the disclaimer & content policy. Location and camera metadata (EXIF) is stripped from every uploaded photo before storage. The address you post is public by design — that's how buyers find your sale — so only post an address you're comfortable publishing for the sale's duration. Listings and their photos are deleted automatically about two weeks after the sale ends.

Open Box chats. Messages you exchange with other members are stored so the conversation can be displayed to its participants, and are retained until the related listing is purged (about 60 days after it sells or expires). Chats are private between participants, but moderators may review a conversation when a participant reports it. Don't share sensitive personal or financial information in chat — arranging a public meetup never requires it.

Technical data. A session cookie keeps you logged in. Your IP address is recorded when you post a listing (spam prevention) and a salted hash of it when you report a photo (to prevent duplicate reports). We do not run third-party analytics or advertising.

How we use it

We use your information solely to operate the Site: authenticating you, displaying your listings, and moderating content. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties except the infrastructure that runs the Site (Cloudflare).

Deletion

Removing a listing unpublishes it immediately; it and its photos are purged permanently by the next cleanup cycle. To delete an account and everything tied to it, email support@youunbox.com from the account's address.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest revision.
